Airbnb Photography Project: Multi-Unit STR Building – 286 Summit Ave, Jersey City NJ

This comprehensive Airbnb photography project was created for a four-unit short term rental building in Jersey City, New Jersey. After completing professional Airbnb photography for each individual apartment, the host requested a dedicated shoot focusing on the building’s shared outdoor amenities, premium outdoor spaces, and twilight aerial views that highlight the property’s desirable location near Manhattan.

The goal of this session was to elevate the visual identity of the building as a whole and create a cohesive gallery of high-impact images that strengthen the performance of all four STR listings on Airbnb and other rental platforms.

Twilight Photography for Shared Outdoor Areas

Each unit has its own unique outdoor space, and twilight photography was chosen to create warm, inviting visuals that showcase these areas at their best.

For Apartment 1, I photographed the fenced backyard lounge area with string lights and artificial turf. Twilight lighting helped emphasize warmth, privacy, and the cozy ambiance guests enjoy in the evenings.

For Apartment 2, the private deck was photographed in the blue-hour window to highlight seating, exterior lighting, and the surrounding neighborhood views.

For Apartment 4, the rooftop terrace was captured at twilight with the full Manhattan skyline glowing in the background. This vantage point is one of the property’s strongest selling features and performs exceptionally well on Airbnb and Vrbo for attracting guests seeking a New York City–adjacent stay.

Aerial Drone Photography at Twilight

The client also requested twilight aerial images to showcase the building’s position within Jersey City and its close proximity to Manhattan. These drone shots highlight:

• the vibrant city atmosphere
• the rooftop deck as a premium amenity
• neighborhood walkability
• skyline views that differentiate this building from other STR properties

These twilight aerials significantly strengthen the property’s visual narrative by giving potential guests a sense of place, lifestyle, and convenience.

Interior Twilight Mood Capture

One additional request was to photograph the dining area of one unit during golden hour, capturing the natural warm light reflecting through the windows. This style of Airbnb photography creates emotional appeal and helps listings stand out with softer, lifestyle-driven imagery rather than traditional real estate shots.

Editing & Post-Production

All images were professionally edited using our full STR photography editing workflow, including:

• correction of color, contrast, and white balance
• vertical and perspective alignment
• detailed light balancing for twilight exposures
• skyline color enhancement for both rooftop and aerial shots
• noise reduction optimized for low-light twilight photography
• subtle object cleanup to remove distracting elements

Advanced Twilight Editing Techniques

The twilight rooftop photos required a more advanced editing approach to fully capture the detail of the seating area while preserving the dramatic skyline in the background. For these images, our team used a focus stacking editing technique in addition to traditional twilight HDR blending. This process combines multiple exposures and focal points to ensure that every element of the rooftop scene remains sharp, from the foreground furniture to the distant Manhattan skyline. The result is a set of highly polished twilight photos that deliver maximum visual impact and elevate the overall quality of the STR listing.
